Matangi Private Island Resort Fiji is a truly unique small island resort in the South Pacific Islands. Set on a 240-acre private island, the enviable setting offers gorgeous beaches, tropical rain forest and some of the world's best scuba diving sites. This small luxury Fiji resort offers individual beachfront and ocean view bungalows, all handcrafted from local materials, one villa plus three Tree House Bures overlooking the beach and ocean.
Matagi Island is the smallest of a cluster of volcanic islands off the eastern tip of Taveuni. Wrapped around a submerged crater, the entire Matangi area is a Scuba divers mecca. Matangi's private cottages set within lovely tropical gardens, along with a main dining and lounge area, a fleet of boats and a dive facility, plus three tree house honeymoon cottages built 30 feet off the ground in the embrace of ancient almond trees.
In addition to some of Fiji's best scuba diving, Matagi is also wonderful for its beautiful white sand beaches, hiking through the lush rainforest, or a cultural visit to one of the local native villages. An opportunity to experience the weekly Meke (Fijian party with lots of singing, dancing and traditional foods) and the demonstration of warrior dances is itself well worth the price of admission.

(BTW - In Fijian, the island is spelled Matagi...but pronounced MataNgi. To avoid confusion, the resort has added the "N" to their name.) Following prices are offered for three different room styles.

Lalati offers an all-inclusive concept that provides scuba diving, world-class surfing, sea kayaks, windsurfing, and gourmet meals. Packages include boat transfer from Pacific Harbor, lodging, tax, three meals daily, and daily boat diving or other activities. Prices are per person, based on double occupancy.
Dive Kadavu is a PADI facility offering some of the Pacific's finest boat and beach diving. With two dives in the morning, two in the afternoon, boat night dives, and complimentary beach tanks, this resort really stands ready to cater to dedicated divers. Their spacious flattop boats are great for divers, and superbly suited to the region. Prices are based on the standard beach front room.

Throughout the week aboard the Fiji Aggressor II and Fiji Aggressor III guests will explore the reefs, bommies and walls of Nigali Pass, Wakaya, Koro and Namenalala Islands. Exciting drift dives with eagle rays, mantas, turtles, sharks and giant groupers are also on the itinerary. Lush soft corals with their brilliant displays colors will dazzle photographers at "E-6" and "Hi-8" dive sites. Weather permitting, guests will visit a Fijian village on Makogai Island to experience local culture for a "meke" or party.
Fiji charters, which depart from Suva, are Saturday-to-Saturday with five and one-half days of diving. Dinner is served on board Saturday evening followed by the Captain's briefing and diving begins Sunday morning. Friday afternoon, the Fiji Aggressor II and Fiji Aggressor III will return to Suva. Everyone will dine at a local restaurant Friday night. This is the only meal not included in the charter. Saturday morning check-out is 8:00 a.m.

Nia'a means "dolphin" in Hawaian. Formerly a cruise ship in the Caribbean, this 110' motor-sailor was completely reconditioned, specifically to serve live-aboard divers in Fiji.
