Matangi Private Island Resort Fiji is a family owned and operated resort on a 240-acre privately owned island located in the lush tropical northern part of the Fiji Islands. This unique horseshoe-shaped island paradise boasts virgin tropical rainforest, and white sand beaches. It is no surprise that Matangi Island was voted in ISLANDS Magazine as one of the "Top 10 Private Islands in the World" and also featured in "1,000 Places to See Before You Die", by Patricia Schultz.
The Island resort caters to adults only (16 years and older), with 10 luxurious bures and 3 unique treehouses. Rates include all meals, daily maid service, evening turn down, complimentary laundry service and non-motorized activities.
All Bures feature air-conditioning and ceiling fans, 4-poster king-size beds, private facilities, outdoor lava-rock showers, Pure Fiji bath amenities, bathrobe and slippers, hair dryer, in room electronic safe, I-pod docking station, fully stocked mini bar (additional cost based on usage), fresh baked cookies, French press coffee/tea making facilities, large sitting area, private veranda, beach towels and beach hammock.
Matangi Island Resort is the perfect choice for honeymooners, destination weddings, couples, romantic getaway, soft-adventure, snorkeling, scuba, hiking and seekers of natural beauty. There are three main lodging styles:
Beachfront Bure -- Situated on the western side of the Resort, there are five Beachfront bures. All are newly renovated. Bedding consists of one King bed and an additional single bed can be added Seven Bures are Beachfront.
Treehouse Bure -- The most luxurious of Matangi's accommodation styles are the three unique Tree House Bures. These gorgeous dwellings are built around trees on the steep cliffs overlooking the beach. The Tree House Bures feature separate living and sleeping areas with king size bed, ceiling fans and a large timber decking with gorgeous views across the Tasman Straits. Two of them include outdoor river-rock showers as well as conventional indoor showers. These Tree House Bures are perfect for honeymooners and couple’s wanting a romantic getaway with maximum privacy.
Local Transfer -- A mini-bus will meet you at the Taveuni airport, and will take you on a scenic, 20-minute drive to the boat landing, where one of our boats will meet you. This is a wet landing, so please be prepared to wade to the boat. The water taxi takes about 20 minutes to get to the resort.

Domestic Flight -- Matangi's neighbour, Taveuni Island, is serviced by two Fiji airlines, Sun Air and Air Fiji, with regularly scheduled flights from Nadi and Suva, the two major international airports in Fiji. Both Fiji airlines operate daily services with a flight time of approximately ninety minutes from Nadi. Domestic Fiji air flights are a grand opportunity to view the majestic islands of Fiji, and see the extensive coral reef systems surrounding them. You may want to have your camera handy for a few aerial photos.
