Getting There -- Most guests fly to Costa Rica's capitol city of San Jose, or on the the nearer airport of Liberia. Please contact Island Dreams for air travel details. Once in Costa Rica, Island Dreams will arrange your round-trip ground transfers. From the San José airport, the cost for one to six passengers, is $210 per car, each way. Transfer from the Liberia Airport is $60 per car, each way. Reservations must be made in advance, and pricing is subject ot change. Some guests choose to drive to the region via the Pan American Highway. This scenic 3-1/2 hour trip travels through the picturesque Central Valley and the agricultural and cattle lands of Guanacaste province. Roads are paved as far as Playa del Coco, 2 miles from El Ocotal.Scuba Diving -- The El Ocotal dive shop, on-site at the hotel, can handle all divers' needs. The shop is stocked with 100 aluminum 80 tanks, and 40 dive set ups. All equipment including masks, fins, BC's, regulators and shorty wetsuits can be rented at reasonable rates. Daily two-tank dive trips leave at 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Night dives may be arranged upon request. PADI instructors provide certifications, referrals, specialties, and resort dive courses. A person can complete the full certification in as little as four or five days and those taking a resort course can be in the water the same day.

Sport Fishing -- Three twin diesel engine 32ft sportfishing boats make up what is Costa Rica's most experienced and professional fleet. Boats are outfitted with light to heavy rods and reels to please the novice or the most experienced fishermen. Crews are specially trained to serve the saltwater fly fisherman. The Gulf of Papagayo offers outstanding fishing year round for sailfish, marlin, roosterfish, tuna, dolphin and over 25 other varieties of sportfish. Full and half day charters can be arranged at the hotel or in advance.
Surfing -- El Ocotal offers surfing to some of Costa Rica's best waves in isolated areas only accesible by boat. Surf trips are arranged on a day to day basis to spots like Potrero Grande and Witches Rock.
Tennis -- El Ocotal's tennis court is a fully enclosed hard surface court with professional quality lighting for night play. Rackets and balls can be rented at the front desk.
Swimming -- Ocotal beach sits within a well protected bay making ideal calm conditions for swimming along the 1/3 mile long beach. The all sand beach and warm 75 to 80 F. water is perfect for swimming, snorkeling or just wading. The hotel also has three freshwater swimming pools located throughout the complex.
Father Rooster Bar -- Located at the opposite end of Ocotal beach from the hotel this renovated turn of the century ranch house provides a relaxed bathing suit and bare foot atmosphere for spirits and informal dinning. A place for dancing and just having a good time.
Playas del Coco -- Just 2 miles from Ocotal is the fishing village of Coco Beach where hotel guest can find various alternatives for dinnig, bars, a discotheque and some souvenir shopping. Taxi service is available to and from the hotel at reasonable rates.
Island and Beach Excursions -- El Ocotal's boats take guests on scheduled or private tours to surrounding isolated beaches and islands. No visit to Ocotal is complete without experiencing first-hand the beautiful beaches of this coastline. See porpoises, turles and sea birds, as the tour boat cruises along virgin beaches and coastal islands.
Sight-seeing / Naturalist Tours -- El Ocotal's on-site tour operator arranges daily trips and tours to National Parks, wildlife reserves and other points of interest. Once in a life time night trips to see nesting sea turtles are operated most of the year. Arrangements can be made at the tour desk, or preferably, in advance via Island Dreams.
Rent a Car -- Rental cars are available through "Elegante Rent a Car" at their desk in the hotel lobby. Cars can be engaged for local exploring or for drop off at other locations in Costa Rica.
Ocean View Building Lots -- Visitors who fall in love with the tropical paradise can become part of the resort life. El Ocotal has a limited number of ocenview 1/3 to 1 acre residential building lots for sale. All utilities are installed and ready for a dream villa. Ideal for retirement, vacation or investment. Costa Rica's law allows for clear property title to locals and foreigners alike.
