Island Dreams' Philippines Dive Travel Packages
Houston Underwater Photographic Society (HUPS)
I would like to extend a hearty Thank You to Island Dreams Travel and Tina specifically for handling the arrangements of The Houston Underwater Photographic Society (HUPS) 2010 spring dive trip to the Philippines. The trip was a huge success with only praise and nary a complaint from any of our group participants.
We had a group of 27 divers most of whom are avid underwater photographers with all the excess baggage and special handling associated with such a breed. Our main trip focus was a 10 day stay at the El Galleon Resort on Mindoro Island. The group overcame Volcanic Ash and travel delays to all arrive safely. The travel delays were handled smoothly by Tina and the El Galleon staff to which we are all grateful.
The Asia Divers dive operation at El Galleon Resort is a well oiled machine and the smoothest operation I have ever witnessed. They managed to handle all of our special needs without a hitch to provide us with 4 great dives each day, even to the point of assigning additional dive masters to some of our group with unforeseen difficulties. I am very much appreciative to Alli with Asia Divers for watching over us.
We were also very fortunate to have great weather during our stay. The pleasant weather meant good sea conditions and we were able to dive all the marquee dive sites with Verde Island, The Canyons, M/V Alma Jane and Hole in the Wall being some of our favorites.
The El Galleon Resort itself proved to be another pleasant experience. The resort's configuration is very diver friendly, which you would expect from a dive resort, but in our case they went over and above their normal level of service. We ascended on their operation with 27 divers, each with a sizable amount of u/w photo gear. As their operation was not initially set up for u/w photographers, they staged their conference room for us with camera tables, power outlets and adequate space for us to handle our gear.
A new dive center is under construction at El Galleon and Allan Nash, the resort's owner, asked our input in regards to the design of a new camera room. Based on their current level of attention to the needs of their guests, I am sure that this resort will be a first class destination for u/w photographers who stay with them in the future.
